OBEDIENCE CLASSES

No matter the age, breed, or life experience, any dog benefits from obedience training--it's the foundation to help ensure you have success in all that you wish to do with your furry friend!

Come have fun with your puppy! You and your puppy will have fun learning focus games, a good recall, and some every day life skills. Learn how to train new skills, in short, game-based, and reward-based training sessions. Puppies will also learn how to interact with some training equipment, such as a small tunnel, a contact trainer, and wobble boards to promote confidence for both family pets and future dogsport athletes. This class is a great all types of puppies as it will help build a solid foundation for a well-round pet.

PREREQUISITES: Puppies must be under 6 months of age.

Open to all ages, all breeds. Building a strong foundation with your dog is like building a house. Without a strong foundation, the house would soon crumble, thus foundation training is important for the family pet, as well as the dog that will go into other dog sports such as flyball, agility, Rally-O and conformation. Basics are sit, down, stay, come when called and learning the heel position. This class is a pre-requisite for every other class that KAOS offers. This is the class that will start to create a bond between dog and handler that is more than just a collar and leash.

PREREQUISITES: none

This class is a continuation of Level 1 Obedience, increasing distance, duration, and distractions while expanding and strengthening the skills learned in Level 1. We will also work on refining the heeling exercise, team bonding through games and tricks, and simulating real world scenarios for a well mannered pet.

PREREQUISITES: “Level 1 Obedience”

This class is an introduction to all that we do with our own dogs. The class is divided into working stations with foundation obedience being one of the stations every week. Other stations include how to play, learning to jump, rear end awareness, tunnels, barrels, targeting and some introductory skills used for flyball and disc. Most dogs and handlers benefit from having Foundation Level 1 first, but some can go into this class with prior training elsewhere or with an experienced handler.

PREREQUISITES: Recommended "Level 1 Obedience"

Whether you have a new puppy or want to teach an ‘old dog’ new tricks, this class is for you! Learn how to train new skills, in short, game based, training sessions. We will teach you and your dog valuable life skills including leave it, recalls, stays with duration, engagement, listening through arousal, loose leash walking, crate training, greeting people with four paws on the floor and more, all in a fun, game based environment! This class is a great class for pet families or if you want to do any dogsports, like agility, rally or flyball too, as it focuses on building a solid foundation.

PREREQUISITES: none

We will learn even more games and build on the ones you have already been taught! We will also work on some fun tricks to show off to your friends and family. This class is built on the foundation that having fun with your dog, using positive reinforcement based training, builds a better relationship with your dog. We teach the dog to make great choices, rather than them always needing direction on how to react to a situation.
